• Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helps you move beyond trauma.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)  is recognised by the National Institute for Health & Care Excellence as being an effective therapeutic approach to supporting individuals who have experienced trauma.

Shortland Psychology embeds CBT within our overall approach to therapy and assessment.  This is due to the positive effect CBT has on changing lives.

We are skilled in a range of additional techniques and adapt how we use CBT depending on the needs of each person we support.

As part of therapy and assessments we talk through individual experiences, including discussing how trauma or anxiety is impacting your life, or the life of your child or client.

Together we look at how thoughts, emotions and actions can be adjusted to help reduce the influence of trauma or anxiety on everyday life. By doing this we guide each individual away from repeating negative patterns of thinking, feeling and behaviour.
