We place our clients at the heart of our therapeutic approach.
During the Covid-19 crisis we are delivering all of our therapeutic approaches online to existing and new clients – children, adults and families including family therapy and EMDR. Just get in touch if you want to discuss this further by sending an email to . It might be useful for you to know that most insurance companies are authorising online therapy sessions at this time.
For family therapy consultations, resources and blog posts please refer to our website Pocket Family Psychologist.
Experiencing trauma is life changing and can influence how we each think, feel or behaviour.
There are many different types of traumatic experiences, and we can each be affected differently. For example we may feel anxious in certain circumstances or have trouble relating to the people around us.
Therapy is a positive way to move beyond trauma. When you make contact with us, our first questions will help us determine whether we are the best people to support you.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
We will arrange for either 2 x 50 minute, or 1 x 90 minute therapeutic assessment which will involve a mix of talking and questionnaire filling. If it is a child who has experienced trauma, we usually spend time with the child and parents or caregiver together, and then separately.
By talking about the impact of trauma or anxiety on thoughts, feelings and actions, as well as discussing the changes wished to be made, we build a strong understanding of individual therapeutic needs.
After these initial therapy sessions, we will give our recommendations on how best to move forwards. As specialists in trauma, anxiety and attachment difficulties, we adapt to your needs. Cognitive Behaviourial Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy is central to our approach and we may also use Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Compassion Focused Therapy to support you.
For young people we may recommend attachment therapies informed by Theraplay ©, and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy along with EMDR. To reduce worry for young people meeting us for the first time, we have created a child friendly and teenage page. This page explains what a child can expect to happen in therapy. Click here to view our child friendly page or our teenage page.
Recent therapeutic sessions have included adults seeking support for anxiety or trauma related difficulties. We also regularly support parents seeking help for their children, and Local Authorities seeking support for looked after and adopted children.
